This policy describes what the Average Speed Radar Bulgaria Android app (package com.eristoapps.avgspeed) does with your information. It is written from the app's source code and describes this app only.

The short version

• Your location is used on your device to work out where you are and how fast you have been going. We never receive it and never store it on a server.
• The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no user profiles.
• Advertising is provided by Google AdMob, which does collect data. Analytics and crash reporting are provided by Google Firebase, and they stay switched off unless you agree to them.
• Map images come from third-party map servers, which necessarily see which part of the map you are looking at.

Location

The app asks for precise location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) because it is the entire point of the app: it reads your position from the phone's GPS to detect when you enter a published average-speed section, to compute your average across that section, and to tell you how fast you may still go.

Location is read through a foreground service — the one that shows the persistent notification while tracking. The app does not request ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION.

Your location is processed entirely on your device. It is not sent to us, and we operate no server that could receive it. We have no way to know where you have driven.

What is stored on your device

The app keeps a small settings file on your device. Nothing in it leaves the device, and all of it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

• Your preferences: vehicle_category, language, voice_enabled, keep_screen_on, map_style, map_night_mode, map_large_labels, show_cameras, only_active_section, over_limit_interval_seconds, last_km_warning, periodic_average, onboarding_seen.
• When a section update was last downloaded: last_refresh_ms.
• The measurement in progress, so a section is not silently restarted if Android stops the app part way through: measurement_section, measurement_direction, measurement_entry_offset, measurement_entry_time, measurement_furthest. This is cleared when the section ends.
• A cache of downloaded map images, and a copy of the section list.

Network connections the app itself makes

The app makes exactly two kinds of request of its own, and neither carries your location.

• The section list, downloaded from the published BG TOLL map layer hosted by Google (google.com/maps/d/kml), checked each time you open the app. The request contains no information about you beyond what any web request contains — your IP address and a bare product identifier.
• Map images, from OpenStreetMap, CARTO or Esri depending on the map style you choose. Map tiles are requested by coordinate, so the server that serves them can infer, from your IP address and the tiles requested, which part of the map you are looking at. This is inherent to any app that displays a map and is not something we control. Their own privacy policies govern what they do with it.

Destination search

When you type a destination and press search, the app does not look it up. The text is handed straight to whichever navigation app you choose — Waze, Google Maps or another — using Android's standard mechanism for that. What happens next is governed by that app's privacy policy, not this one.

Advertising

The app is free and shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects. Depending on your consent choice and your region, AdMob may collect and use:

• your advertising ID and other device identifiers;
• approximate location inferred from your IP address;
• information about the ads you were shown and interacted with;
• device and app information such as model, operating-system version and app version.

Google's handling of this data is described at business.safety.google/privacy and in Google's partner-sites policy.

Ads appear in two places only: a banner strip below the readout, and one full-screen advert when the app is first opened. No advertisement is ever placed over the map or over the speed readout.

Consent, and how to change your mind

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form before it requests any advertisement. You can reopen that form at any time: Settings → Ad privacy choices.

Refusing consent does not restrict the app. Every feature keeps working; you will simply see non-personalised advertising instead of personalised advertising, and analytics and crash reporting stay off.

Analytics and crash reporting

The app includes Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Both are disabled by default and are switched on only if you have given consent for information to be stored on and read from your device. When enabled they may collect:

• an app instance identifier and basic device information;
• which screens are opened and which features are used;
• crash reports and diagnostic information, including the state of the app at the moment it stopped.

None of this includes your GPS position. Analytics data is retained for 14 months.

Children

This app is for adult drivers and is not directed at children.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is no account to access, correct or delete. To remove everything the app has stored, uninstall it, or clear its storage from Android's app settings. To reset your advertising identity, use your device's own advertising-ID controls.

For anything concerning data collected by Google through AdMob or Firebase, Google is the controller and their policies apply.

Changes

If the app later gains accounts, purchases, or any transmission of location, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
